Next-Gen 2023 Toyota Supra GRMN With BMW M3 Get 500+ HP

Next-Gen 2023 Toyota Supra GRMN

2023 Toyota Supra – According to Japan’s Best Car magazine report, the Toyota Supra with BMW M Power will come to showrooms in 2023.

In a move that further strengthens the joint sports car program between the Japanese and German companies, BMW has reportedly been persuaded by Toyota to use one of its most valuable engines in a limited range of Supra coupes.

This special edition is expected to be called the Toyota Supra GRMN (not just the GR as the current model), a reference to the ultra top-end models in the Japanese brand’s performance car lineup.

A translation of the Best Car report says that the Toyota Supra GRMN will be powered by a 3.0-liter twin-turbo in-line six-cylinder engine scheduled for the next-generation BMW M3 sedan and M4 coupe.

The report claims the engine will have an epic peak output equivalent to around 382kW/608Nm and be powered by a seven-speed dual-clutch automatic transmission.

Today’s Toyota Supra is powered by a single turbo 3.0-litre ( 250kW/500Nm) six-cylinder engine sourced from BMW and paired with an eight-speed torque converter that delivers automatic drive to the rear wheels. In that guise, the Toyota Supra is claimed to have 0 to 100km in 4.4 seconds.

Before the M Power engine arrives on the Supra, the latest version of the current single-liter 3.0-liter turbo six-cylinder engine in the Toyota Supra will be released at the end of this year with 285kW but the same 500Nm output.

In comparison, the peak output of the BMW M3 sedan and the recently replaced M4 coupe from the in-line 3.0-liter six-cylinder twin-turbo engines are the 331kW and 550Nm. In that guise, the BMW M3 and M4 are claimed to have a time of 0 to 100km in 4.0 seconds.

The Best Car report claims only 200 examples of Toyota Supra GRMN will be produced in 2023 as exclamation marks for the model before it ends production in 2025 – and will not be replaced.

As you all know, the fifth generation of the Toyota Supra is the latest BMW Z4 G29 technical twin, despite having a bespoke Toyota body and coupe design, instead of being a roadster like its german siblings.

Both the Z4 and Supra were built on the same production line by Magna Steyr in Austria and feature identical power generation, suspension, infotainment systems; You name it.

The Z4 does not currently have an M version at the moment is the primary evidence that the Supra with the BMW M3/M4 engine will not happen, but apparently, it will also change in the next few years.

Essentially the high-performance twin-turbocharged B58 engine version already available in the Supra 3.0, the straight-six-s58 S58 engine currently only powers the BMW X3 M and X4 M, and the recently launched M3 and M4. Produces 480 PS (473 bhp) in regular and 510 PS (503 hp) and 659 Nm (479 lb-ft) of torque in the Competition model.

BMW M was persuaded to include the twin-turbo factory in both versions of the M Z4 G29 and Supra GRMN by none other than the ToyotaTetsuya Tada, also known as the Mr 86.

The only way the business case for both models will be convincing is if they are treated not like traditional halo models but limited production versions that can ask for more money for their exclusivity, not necessarily for their performance.

Neither the Z4 at the moment nor the Supra is a big seller, so the super expensive limited-edition versions for both models should only make it more desirable for both collectors and performance chasers.

While the Z4 M will be launched, supra GRMN will be launched towards the end of the last generation supra powered by an internal combustion engine.

We hope the 2023 Toyota Supra GRMN will start with a starting price close to the $100,000 threshold.

2022 Toyota Supra A91-CF

Toyota has announced the Supra A91-CF edition, a limited-run model with plenty of carbon-fiber trim, a unique 19-inch matte black rim model, and a red Brembo brake package. There will only be 600 A91-CF Supras, and they will only be available in North America.

The A91-CF will share most of its characteristics with the non-special edition six-cylinder Supra, which enters the 2022 model year essentially unchanged after receiving some powertrain adjustments for the 2021 model year, which increased power to 382 hp. The Supra 3.0 Premium trim has a new red interior available this year, plus a standard heated seat.

The A91-CF will come with two-tone leather and an Alcantara interior in red and black. It will also have a 19-inch matte black wheel, and a red Brembo brake caliper peeks through the fingers.

CF in its name refers to the woven carbon fiber seen on the front splitter, side rocker, side, rear canard, and duckbill rear spoiler.

Toyota Supra A91-CF Engine

In addition to the 3.0-hp 3.0-liter six-cylinder engine, the A91-CF will have the same eight-speed automatic transmission (sourced from the ZF) as the other Supra, plus available adaptive suspension and a limited-slip differential. Both the suspension and the rear differential benefited from last year’s programming update.

2022 Toyota Supra A91-CF Price

Toyota has not yet announced its new supra special price, but we estimate it will cost about $58,000. To help ease the blow, Toyota will give everyone who buys the Supra 2022 a free one-year membership to the National Auto Sport Association, which grants its holders the right to a one-day performance driving event with guidance from expert instructors. Look for the new Supra—and all its amenities—for sale at dealers this fall.
