The Next-Generation Toyota RAV4 is rumored to be coming to Australia’s showrooms in 2025, according to secret planning information unearthed by Drive.

This means buyers will have to wait in line for 18 months to two years on the popular Toyota RAV4 Hybrid variant – possibly getting a next-gen model.

Information unearthed by Drive reveals the subsequent development of the Toyota RAV4 is underway ahead of the showroom’s arrival in late 2024 or early 2025, pending delays.

Australia’s launch time has not been locked, but if history is a guide, it aligns with the life cycle of previous models.

Today’s showroom Toyota RAV4 launched in March 2018 and went into production in the U.S. and Canada in November 2018. Production in Japan began in January 2019, before the Australian showroom’s arrival in May 2019.

Drive’s expected arrival date – late 2024 or early 2025 – also aligns with information published in a report by U.S. automotive insights firm Auto Forecast Solutions, which claims production will begin in North America in October 2024.

Little detail is known about the following Toyota RAV4; however, if the new generation Toyota models – including the new Prius – are a guide, the new RAV4 will likely adopt new bodywork on carry-over or revised basics.

Meanwhile, the Toyota RAV4 in today’s showroom has just been upgraded with the latest Toyota in-car technology – including a more extensive infotainment and instrument screen, all-new software, and connected car smartphone functionality.

The next-gen model could get a larger screen display to better compete with new-generation rivals, including the Kia Sportage, Hyundai Tucson, and Nissan X-Trail.

Hybrid variants account for over 75 percent of Toyota RAV4 sales in Australia – and nine of the 13 model classes available are hybrids. Therefore the next-generation model is expected to double the gasoline-electric technology.

A person who says they have “inside information” and is quoted by the U.S. website The Fast Lane Car says that all future versions of the Toyota RAV4 in the U.S. could use hybrid power as standard, and the standard 2.5-liter gasoline engine could be taken out. However, this has not been confirmed.
