New 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Redesign – The standard RAV4 Hybrid received a new mid-range XLE Premium trim for 2023, but the big news this year is introducing the plug-in hybrid RAV4 Prime model.
The RAV4 Prime is the most powerful RAV4 on offer, with a total of 302 horsepower between its gas engine and electric motor; it also offers 42 miles of claimed electric driving only per charge.

Showroom hit the new-generation Toyota RAV4 Hybrid in 2019 with a rugged look. The RAV4 Hybrid has largely remained the same ever since. We expect this carryover trend to remain when the 2023 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid arrives.
The new generation RAV4 Hybrid dropped a compact crossover soft design that has long been known and brings a bold new look.
This design includes uprightness, a flat nose, a sharp truck-like grille, blazing wheels, rugged body cladding, sharp body lines, and more. Buyers looking for a sporty look can get this in the XSE trim, including gloss-black accents, unique wheels, and more.
Inside, the new RAV4 Hybrid’s rigidity continues with its angular dashboard offering hard lines and cuts, large HVAC knobs, clogged steering wheel centers, hard gearshifts, and more. Buyers looking for a premium look and feel can get this in a Limited trim, which includes high-end leather upholstery and more.
The RAV4 Hybrid is currently well equipped from its base LE trim. This standard equipment includes upholstery, 17-inch wheels, a separate folding rear seat, a 7-inch touchscreen, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. We expect these features to remain the same in the RAV4 Hybrid 2023.
2023 Toyota RAV4 Engine
Under its hood, the RAV4 Hybrid includes a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine paired with an electric motor for a combined 219 horsepower.
There is also a rear motor that adds to the standard on-demand all-wheel drive without impacting fuel economy. We expect this powertrain to remain the same in the RAV4 Hybrid 2023.
All current Toyota RAV4 Hybrid models include automatic emergency braking, active lane control, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beams.
Buyers can also add optional blind-spot monitors. IIHS rated the RAV4 Hybrid a Top Safety Pick today thanks to a “Good” collision test rating across the board and an optional “Good” LED projector headlight.
2023 Toyota RAV4 Interior
The RAV4 Hybrid cabin is well built and well equipped but prioritizes practicality over style. With so many cubbies and trash cans to choose from, you’ll have enough space to store a small cargo hold, and all the buttons and controls are easy to find and operate.
Toyota throws a lot of good stuff at ground levels, such as dual-zone automatic climate control, tilt steering wheel, and telescope, and highly adjustable false floor in the cargo area.
The trim-level staircase brings luxury features such as heated front and rear seats, ambient interior lighting, and enhanced false leather upholstery that Toyota calls SofTex.
The RAV4 Hybrid offers identical cargo and passenger space as the regular RAV4, and in our tests, we managed to load 10 carry-on suitcases behind the second row and 22 with the rear seats folded.
The LE and XLE models come with a 7.0-inch infotainment display growing from their dashboards, while the XSE and Limited models provide an 8.0-inch display. A larger display can be displayed on XLE models as part of the Audio Plus package.
The RAV4 Prime model comes with an 8.0 or 9.0-inch screen. Integration of Apple CarPlay and Android Auto and onboard Wi-Fi hotspots are all standards. JBL 11 stereo navigation and system speakers are available in XSE and standard on Limited. Otherwise, you’ll get a six-speaker system.
2023 Toyota RAV4 Release Date and Price
There is no official release date for the Toyota RAV4 Hybrid 2023, but we expect a summer 2022 sales date based on the previous release schedule.
RAV4 Hybrid 2023 price is not yet available. However, without major changes in employment, we expect its MSRP to remain close to the current model at $29,675 to $38,205.
This rugged crossover will fight the Ford Escape Hybrid and Honda CR-V Hybrid.
