2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro Off-Road Redesign

2024 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro

Toyota has begun updating its portfolio of SUVs and trucks in North America with a new generation of models. The debut of the next generation of Takoma will soon follow this.

The current-generation Toyota 4Runner gets its power from a naturally aspirated 4.0-liter V6 engine – capable of producing 270 horsepower and 278 lb-ft of torque.

Although capable and reliable, the engine paired with this 5-speed automatic transmission needs to be updated; In addition, its fuel efficiency figures are also relatively low compared to its competitors.

4Runner TRD Pro Powertrain

The 2024 4Runner TRD Pro will probably feature a twin-turbocharged 3.5-litre V6 engine that is part of Toyota’s new i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain.

In the Tundra and Sequoia, this powertrain includes an electric motor – has a combined system output of 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque, and consists of a 10-speed automatic transmission as standard.

The new 4Runner could get a version of this hybrid powertrain and, in any case, will likely have better performance figures than the current 4.0-liter V6.

Not only that, but we also expect fuel efficiency figures to improve drastically, as we saw in the new Toyota Sequoia and Tundra – the 6th generation 4Runner will most likely continue to offer a part-time 4WD system.

It will likely get enhanced off-road capability thanks to an updated ladder frame chassis and additional electronic equipment such as Toyota’s MTS and Crawl Control; this SUV’s ‘TRD Pro’ trim will also receive updates that align with the new generation models on which it is based.

2024 4Runner TRD Pro Interior

Toyota is trying to give this SUV the features it needs not to lose the competition; However, since there was no complete overhaul, although well equipped, the 4Runner’s cabin is now showing its age.

This new version of the mid-size SUV from Toyota also features better quality materials on its dashboard and door panels and gets premium upholstery in a higher class.

Additionally, the 6th generation of the 4Runner is expected to get a more extensive infotainment system, possibly the 14-inch unit seen in the Tundra.

The new 4Runner could also get better connectivity options in the form of more functions and wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay.

2024 4Runner TRD Pro Release Date

Toyota announced an update to the 2023 model year. So the earliest the new 4Runner will arrive is 2023 as a 2024 model year vehicle.
