2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid USA Release Date, Pricing – The 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime plug-in Hybrid delivers small-SUV buyers the ability to drive up to 42 miles on electric power. Unlike many hybrids, which are designed with fuel efficiency as the number one concern, performance is part of the game RAV4 Prime as well. Toyota claims it is the second-fastest model in the lineup, just trailing the SUPRA Sportscar acceleration.

The RAV4 Prime builds on the features of the regular Hybrid RAV4 but brings more performance – with 302 horsepower on the ship, it’s the most powerful RAV4 ever. Toyota returned a 2.5-liter four-cylinder engine and endowed prime with a newly developed, high-capacity Lithium-Ion battery for dual electric motor power. ALL-wheel drive comes standard.

Toyota’s greatest strength is the hybrid technology, and in our market obsessed SUV, the RAV4 Hybrid has followed Prius as the best-selling hybrid in the brand lineup. The RAV4 Hybrid boasts several advantages over a standard RAV4, including smooth powertrain and better fuel economy.

Now, Toyota introduces the plug-in RAV4 version, one of the more powerful, more fuel-efficient, and provides an impressive range of electricity. It makes a 2022 Toyota RAV4 Prime Jewel Crown of the SUV lineup brand.

2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Fuel Economy

One of the main differentiators between RAV4 Prime and his siblings is its ability to cover distances on EV power alone. Some customers will be able to go back and forth to work every day without using a drop of gasoline.

The RAV4 Prime is expected to travel 42 miles on a single fee, delivering the highest EV variety plug-in hybrid SUV in the market. The Ford plug-in Hybrid Escape is not far behind with an EV range of 37 miles, except the RAV4 Prime has an all-wheel drive, while the Escape plug-in Hybrid is only available with a front-wheel drive.

Charging time varies dramatically depending on the method. Included with the RAV4 Prime is a 3.3-kW, 120V level 1 charging cable, allowing customers to recharge the battery in about 12 hours from the house. With a 3.3-kW 240V charger, the time drops to 4.5 hours.

The XSE Model with Premium plan features increases the 6.6-kW charging capability to charge the battery in 2.5 hours on a faster level 2 charger. With the gas and power combined bits, the Total driving range is estimated at 600 miles.

After initially estimating the fuel economy rating of 90 MPG-E, Toyota is now anticipating greater efficiency. This SUV is expected to deliver 94 MPG-E, an impressive number, but lower than Escape PHEV’S 100 MPG-E ratings.

RAV4 Prime bridges the gap between other small hybrid SUVs, such as the Ford Escape Hybrid, the Honda CR-V Hybrid, and the Subaru Crosstrek Hybrid, as well as the fully electric Tesla Model Y.

2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Performance

It’s counterintuitive to think of the RAV4 as a sporty, but Toyota intended this variant to focus heavily on performance. The claim of RAV4 Prime car is the second-fastest vehicle, just behind Supra.

Under Sheetmetal, the RAV4 Prime has a lot in common with the RAV4 Hybrid. Using a Hybrid 2.5-liter four-cylinder gas engine, tuned to slightly higher output. A new lithium-ion Battery Pack, booster/Converter, and a more powerful-Generator motor give the prime of the 83 overall horsepower compared to the usual Hybrid RAV4.

Total system output is 302 HP, more juice than you think a small mainstream crossover will need. The prime is also significantly heavier, though, weighing about 4,300 pounds above the XSE trim.

So how does everything work? There are three different electrical modes. In Auto/HV mode, Engine kicks on to provide extra power when needed, such as when you kick the accelerator. You can choose a priority EV mode to run on electric power only, even when you’re using accelerators aggressively. The battery charge Mode uses a power Engine to recharge the battery, adding the EV range as you drive.

If you only use power, the acceleration is slower. Toyota estimates 0-60 mph from time of 9.2 seconds in pure EV mode. It was far from hybrid mode, when Toyota claimed it could press 60 mph in 5.7 seconds, regardless of the country of charge.

Just like the RAV4 Hybrid, Prime RAV4, and linear acceleration of the Stop. Despite the additional horses, it does not feel radically stronger than quitting than siblings. The gas engine is fast to jump with extra kicks when you switch lanes on the freeway in hybrid mode. When the machine is involved, however, you hear a loud groan.

Toyota said it had a RAV4 Prime tweak suspension for a smoother trip, but we did not see a significant improvement from the RAV4 Hybrid. This massage out a small lump is quite good but a restless action over the hard sidewalk. Toyota is also being steering system, but it feels pretty much the same too. It’s just as boring as in the RAV4 Hybrid.

Many hybrids suffer from feeling the brakes feel compared to traditionally powered vehicles. At the Prime RAV4, the brakes take a little longer to bite completely, but that is something we feel we can get used to with time.

Interiors should feel familiar if you are driven by a RAV4 Hybrid. The smart button is put on the dashboard, giving the cab a neat feel. The large, Grippy button allows you to adjust the climate without taking your eyes off the road. In the bottom center console, the shifter and cupholders are placed for easy access.

As with the RAV4 Hybrid, soft-touch materials everywhere make the cabin feel more comfortable. The RAV4 benefits from excellent visibility. It is easy to see out the vehicle thanks to its low window and unobtrusive pillars.

Our XSE testers come with a long list of standard features, including plush armchair faux leather and ambient lighting. In front of the technology, there are five USB ports and wireless phone charging. This top Trim also includes a 9-inch touch screen.

In the list of options, the Premium plan brings along a 10-inch Head-up Display, exclusive to Prime. It also includes foot-activated tailgate, panoramic moonroof, adaptive lights, perforated front seats, and a bird’s eye view camera.

With a battery mounted under the floor, the RAV4 Prime has the same volume of passengers as the RAV4 and RAV4 Hybrid. But the cargo room suffered politely. It offers 33.5 cubic feet of space behind the second row and 63.2 with collapsible seats, compared to the 37.5/69.8 cubic feet for the siblings.

The RAV4 Prime arrives this July and will be sold in all countries from 50. In the year of launch, Toyota expects to sell 5,000 copies for the US afterward, 20,000 units are planned yearly.

2022 Toyota RAV4 Hybrid Price

You can get the RAV4 Hybrid for as little as $29,470. But if you want a prime, you have to spend almost $10,000 more. Prices start at $39,220 for the basic model of SE, which is well recognized.

The RAV4 Prime XSE starts at $42,545, plus an additional $3,765 if you want a Premium package. Keep in mind Prime will meet the requirements for $7,500 Federal tax credits and state loans that apply, which should alleviate some of the burdens.
