All-New 2025 Toyota Tacoma Comes With Hybrid Option

All-New 2025 Toyota Tacoma

The latest version of Tacoma is also expected to undergo a significant transformation compared to the current model.

It has a new chassis and will likely get a complete overhaul in terms of exterior design, cabin layout, onboard technology, and powertrain range.

The following Toyota Tacoma will have at least two powertrain options, one of which is a hybrid consisting of an electric motor paired with a turbocharged 2.4-liter four-cylinder engine.

If it sounds familiar, it’s because the 2023 Lexus NX350 hybrid SUV currently uses the same hybrid powertrain.

If the reports circulating are accurate, it looks like Toyota still needs to be ready to use 100 percent hybrid with its most popular truck, but it’s a step in that direction.

For a peek at the strategies likely to be used here, check out the recently redesigned full-size Tundra, which offers twin-turbo V-6 engines with and without hybridization.

We could see Toyota giving the Tacoma its next 2.4-liter I-4 non-hybrid turbo as an entry-level powertrain under the more powerful hybrid version.

In addition to giving Tacoma the same Tundra engine strategy, the non-hybrid turbo engine will align the midsize Toyota with the 2023 Chevrolet Colorado four-cylinder with the new turbocharger and the upcoming next-generation Ford Ranger.

For Toyota to join those trucks in the turbo club while adding a touch of hybridization would be big news — remember, even in its old age, the Tacoma is currently the best-selling midsize truck.

Despite all the positives of the current-generation Toyota Tacoma, one aspect that continues to be criticized is its uncomfortable cabin experience, especially in the second row of the crew cabin version.

However, with the 2025 update, we expect Toyota to make considerable improvements in this department.

Tacoma 2025 is expected to make significant improvements compared to its current model of infotainment and connectivity.

While Toyota has not disclosed specific details, the truck will likely ditch the current 8-inch touchscreen infotainment unit for a larger, more capable team. It’s no wonder it got the same 14-inch unit from the Tundra.

Connectivity via Android Auto and Apple CarPlay will be available in addition to voice command facilities.

The new Toyota Tacoma is also expected to come with an updated driver information display, perhaps an all-digital one.

In addition, this particular class of off-road trucks can also get a surround-view camera, improving the driving test capability.
