New 2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid Interior Exterior
2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid – The Toyota Camry has gone from a fantastic family sedan to an anonymous four-door and is now back to its former glory. That’s right. Toyota is once again a really desirable option in a slumping but still very competitive segment.
If it wasn’t for the 10Best dynasty yes it was the Honda Accord, the Camry would have been more desirable. However, credit the diverse powertrain plate for its mass appeal. There are four-cylinder sparing, more efficient hybrid options, and a powerful V-6.

The best way to experience the latter is with the sport-tuned TRD model, which showcases the fun factor Toyota rediscovered. Those who prefer stylish and comfortable family sedans, with the help of drivers and abundant popular features, will also adore the 2022 Camry.
What’s new for 2022 Camry?
Toyota only made small changes to the 2022 Camry lineup. The basic L model is now gone, making the LE Camry the cheapest. The front end of the sedan also gets a revised style and there is a new paint color as well as a wheel design.
Inside, there’s a touch screen like a new tablet that measures 7.0 or 9.0 inches. Sporty XSE models are now available with hybrid powertrains, and the luxury XLE gets new leather upholstery. Finally, each Camry receives enhanced driver assistance, including technology that better recognizes cyclists and pedestrians.
Toyota Camry Hybrid Performances
We’ll choose the spiciest Camry of the lot, which is the TRD tuned-up model. It is only available with a 301-hp V-6 and eight-speed automatic. In addition to a more voracious body kit—complete with discrete rear spoilers and a pair of protruding exhaust tips—the sedan uses a customized suspension that is 0.6 inches lower than on a regular model.
Other performance-enhancing features include a larger front brake rotor and a black 18-inch rim that can be fitted with tires throughout the season or summer. The upgrade makes the TRD Camry more attractive to drive than the other lineups, even if its cat-back exhaust system doesn’t sound as thrilling as many aerodynamic add-ons suggest. While Supersonic Red and black roofs are the most flamboyant paint schemes among the four options, we’ll take us at White Chill Pearl.
2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid Engine
The standard four-cylinder engine is paired with a smooth eight-speed automatic, but the amount of acceleration is disappointing. A less powerful version of the engine that works with batteries and two electric motors to power the Camry hybrid, which is no more interesting to drive than a basic powertrain. The real gem of this lineup is the velvet 301-hp V-6 available on XLE and XSE models as well as the TRD variant.
We are also happy to say that we no longer hate driving Camry. It has controlled travel and highly responsive handling. The steering wheel is pleasant in weight and feels substantial when shaded and light when maneuvering in the parking lot.
We found the Camry brake pedal response and not very soft, even in hybrids, where it had to blend friction with regenerative braking (where energy from braking is used to recharge hybrid battery packs). At lower speeds, however, the hybrid brake pedal is hypersensitive, making parking maneuvers a bit of a herky-jerky affair.

We have pushed the Camry at both the top level of XLE guise and in SE trim more plebeian. Both are spacious and comfortable, and the XLE is really luxurious. However, there is a serious gap in material quality between entry-level models and more expensive versions, and the middle of the dashboard keeps some of us cool with its uninspired design.
The Camry is a large sedan, and there is plenty of cargo space and interior storage in its luggage and in its cabin with folded back seats. It’s not the best in every storage category, but overall, it’s really competitive. Toyota moved the Camry hybrid battery from the trunk down the rear seat, so hybrid owners don’t have to sacrifice carrying capacity for additional mpg.
Toyota’s touchscreen infotainment system—called Entune 3.0—is standard throughout the Camry range, with improved versions available as an option. Entune has many features and responds reasonably well to user input in our tests, and Apple CarPlay and Android Auto compatibility is standard.
2022 Toyota Camry Hybrid Safety
While the 2022 Camry has not been tested for accidents by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) or the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety (IIHS). However, the Camry 2020 was rated NHTSA five stars and was named IIHS Top Safety Pick+. We continue to applaud Toyota’s decision to create driver-assistance technology standards throughout its lineup. Key security features include:
- Standard advanced collision warning and automatic emergency braking
- Standard line departure alerts and line maintenance assistance
- Standard adaptive cruise control
