2022 Toyota RAV4 – Toyota released an amazing, new RAV4 with an upright-looking SUV-like combined with an easy-to-drive crossover running a bit. 2022 the RAV4 will remain most of the carryover models when on a roll-in, save for one big update: Plug-in-a hybrid model.

The initial image of 2022 RAV4 shows no significant style changes, but Toyota announced the new Supersonic red color options for future plug-in-hybrid models.

Like last year, we expected the 2022 RAV4 to have more flavor than the ice cream shop. Toyota will offer RAV4 in LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Limited, TRD off-Road, SE, and XSE trims.

The RAV4 Hybrid will probably be offered in LE, XLE, and Limited trims; RAV4 Prime comes in SE and XSE trims.

All RAV4s get the same Mini-‘ ute looks good that starts in 2019. The rooflines and chunky sides of the body are a boon to curs the appeal, even if they make the RAV4 a little more comfortable this time around.

All RAV4s start with inline-4 under the hood, although what happens under the driveline depends on how deep your pockets are. Base 2.5-liter inline-4 makes 203 horsepower and drives the front or all four wheels through 8-speed automatic transmission.

The RAV4 Hybrid team is inline-4 for the hybrid battery pack and electric motor for the 219 HP net that pushes all four wheels through a continuously variable automatic transmission. Its fuel-efficient and prices up to 40 MPG combined, according to the EPA.

The RAV4 Prime adds larger electric motors, larger hybrid battery packs and bumps up overall output to more than 300 HP.

Unlike other plug-in hybrid crossovers, the RAV4 Prime song is performance: It’s the fastest RAV4 to 60 mph at 5.8 seconds (two seconds faster than the RAV4 Hybrid) and can travel more than 30 miles on electrons only.

We’re not sure how much the RAV4 will cost, but each model gets an active safety feature that includes automatic emergency braking, active line control, and adaptive Cruise Control.

Base RAV4s get upholstered fabric, 17-inch wheels, 7.0-Inch Touchscreen for Infotainment with smartphone compatibility, and at least one USB port. Top trims get synthetic leather, better performance, off-Road hardware, a larger touchscreen, or better audio.

Inside, the new-generation RAV4 brings a more stylish cab that includes a hard tooth shifter, a more upright dash, a Dash-Top Infotainment screen, and a unique color choice.

The latter is especially true with contrast stitches and pipes in off-road-ready Adventure models. We expect some mild style changes in the 2022 RAV4 plug-in Hybrid, as it will get a cluster instrument tuned for the Eco-Friendly driver. For the most part, though, we hope these changes become subtle.

2022 Toyota RAV4 Adventure Powertrain

Under the hood, we expect most of the RAV4’s 2022 powertrain options to stay the same, including a standard 2.5-liter four-cylinder with 203 horsepower and 184 pound-foot torque. The hybrid model will also use a four-cylinder 2.5-liter engine, but the electrification pushes its power to 219 HP.

The standard RAV4 will pair its engine with an eight-speed automatic transmission and a front-wheel drive as standard, but all drive wheels are available. The RAV4 Hybrid will continue with the continuous variable transmission and standard all-wheel drive.

The RAV4 draws closer to Tacoma and 4Runner in all the right ways. In some appearances, it’s a mini off-roader, even if it doesn’t have the hardware to match.

The roofline is low and stylish; we can even see FJ a bit there, but not too exaggerated his hand with a too-small window. The low roof takes a toll on the passengers inside; sometimes, driving while bending is more than just a life option.

The RAV4’s chunky Fender at TRD off-Road and the Trims adventure look good, and the new sporty twist of the RAV4 Prime is the triumph for the ‘ Ute.

The sleepy performance of the Toyota RAV4 got a shot at this year’s sleeve with a new, higher-Horsepower 2022 RAV4 Prime.

The minded efficiency, the performance-ready crossover is the world we want to live in, but what we do live in is still buying ordinary RAV4 at an alarming rate.

We provide a 2022 RAV4 a 5 for performance based on a regular powertrain. If scored separately, RAV4 Prime will score higher.

The Gas-only RAV4 was powered by a drab 2.5 liter inline-4 which made 203 HP, paired to an 8-Speed automatic and front-or all-wheel drive. It’s competent but rude around the edges and can Buzz when pressed into tasks.

All-wheel-drive systems offered on the RAV4 are not the same: LE and XLE versions get a basic system that shuttles backward to low grip.

The RAV4 TRD off-Road, Limited, and Adventure get a more sophisticated system that transports front-to-back and side-to-side on the back through a torque vector system. It is more sophisticated and slick but also requires more toll on fuel economy.

The RAV4’s rigid frame and four-wheel independent suspension (MacPherson struts in front with multi-link, trailing wishbones in the back) give the RAV4 a little ride over rough bumps. Still, competitors like the Subaru Forester and the Honda CR-V are a bit softer.

The RAV4 Hybrid adds battery and electric motors to The 2.5-liter inline-4 to make a total of 219 HP. Motor and Front electric motors usually drive the front wheels for better efficiency, while separate rear electric motors can spin backward wheels when more power is needed.

The RAV4 Hybrid All-wheel-drive system is aimed at all-weather confidence; Off-roaders most likely won’t be attracted to a heavier, off-Road RAV4 Hybrid anyway.

ACCORDING TO THE EPA, the RAV4 Hybrid appeal is the combined value of its 39 MPG, which is very fuel-efficient.

Despite the hybrid, not one with the modal “H, ” RAV4 Prime plugs in a larger hybrid battery and electric motor to the system for 302 HP.

RAV4 Prime can hit 60 mph in less than six seconds and have a special suspension sport-tuned. We have not pushed this version yet, but we will report back once we have done so.

2022 Toyota RAV4 asks for several concessions in comfort for an avant-garde form. It is 6 on our convenience scale, not for people-comfort, but for cargo convenience. Shucks.

The front seats are comfortable for higher drivers and riders, especially with optional moonroof cuts into the available headroom. The bottom of the chair is also thin, the cramps – literally and figurative – our comfort at the old hauls.

Back seats offer more headroom but no more legroom. There are 37-inch leg stretch-Out spaces in the back, which are good, but not as many as some rivals, including Volkswagen Tiguan and Honda CR-V.

Three in the back is possible, just not better. The RAV4 holds more than 37 cubic feet of cargo with the upper back seat, which expands to 69 cubic feet. Toyota has not said if the RAV4 Prime hybrid battery will be cut into a cargo chamber.

Federal and independent crashes-testers have not damaged the 2022 Toyota RAV4 because it is not sold yet. We will hold our score here until it gets sacrificed by a lab coat, but there is a reason for optimism.

That’s because last year’s RAV4 was acquired over the “good ” score by the IIHS in the test Crash-tight battery, and the body rated the emergency braking system automatically as “Superior ” on avoiding advanced crashes.

Federal testers are mostly free and give the five stars RAV4 overall score, including four stars for front accident safety and rollover.

Each RAV4 gets automatic emergency braking, active line control, adaptive cruise control, and automatic high beam. Blindspot monitors are available-and a good idea. The great rear roof pillar of RAV4’s looks great but compromises outside vision.

2022 Toyota RAV4 Adventure Features

Toyota did not yet know what would come for the 2022 RAV4, but unless there was another player MiniDisc on the road, we were pretty sure it would look very similar to the version 2020.

The 2022 Toyota RAV4 will likely be offered in LE, XLE, XLE Premium, Limited, SE, and XSE trims. The adventure and TRD off-Road models angle towards outdoorsy people and sub in some useful off-Road hardware. RAV4 Hybrids are offered in LE, XLE, Limited, and XSE trims, while the RAV4 Prime plug-in Hybrid is available in trims SE and XSE.

Honestly, we are not surprised that the RAV4 is a figurative rainbow-level Trim – it’s one of the most popular cars on the planet. Based on its selection and standard hardware, including the 7.0-inch touchscreen on all models, this is 8 for features.

2022 Toyota RAV4 Adventure Price

We expect the 2022 RAV4 to cost around $27,000 at the base of the LE configuration and include upholstery fabrics, 17-inch wheels, Split-Folding rear seats, and 7.0-Inch Touchscreen for Infotainment with smartphone compatibility software. The active safety feature is also included, but we covered it above.

WITH AN ALL-WHEEL-DRIVE EQUIPPED, the XLE has always been a sweet place for us for less than $30,000. (The hybrid version costs a little more than that.)

The RAV4 XLE adds alloy wheels, Adjustable driver seat power, start without locks, more USB chargers, and more options available, including heated seats.

The RAV4 TRD Off-Road was introduced last year, pulling with chunky, 18-inch wheels, twin-tube shocks, and a power liftgate. They are expensive but offer some bit of off-Road capability to the RAV4 family.

302 – HP RAV4 Prime is a wild kid. It directs in the sporty direction with exterior accents, sports suspension, 9.0-inch touchscreen available, synthetic leather seats with red accents, a subwoofer, and a moonroof.

All-In, it is a safe bet the RAV4 Prime XSE which is fully loaded, will cost more than $40,000, but Toyota has not told us yet.

Toyota RAV4 Adventure Fuel economy

EPA has not rated 2022 RAV4, but we feel confident in carrying that score based on similarities with last year’s model.

The most common powertrain is the 2.5 liter inline-4 that drives the front wheels. The EPA rates that in the city 26 mpg, 35 highways, 30 combined. That’s 5 on our scale.

ALL-wheel drive is not a good torpedo efficiency. Most versions of the RAV4 AWD levels are 25/33/28 mpg.

The most efficient RAV4s are also the most expensive. The RAV4 Hybrid manages 40 MPG combined, and The new RAV4 Prime goes even further.

Toyota said RAV4 Prime could travel up to 39 miles on electricity only and will rate up to 90 MPGe, which is a measurement of how an efficient electric vehicle with their drivetrains.

2022 Toyota RAV4 Adventure Release Date

Based on the production history of this model, we expect a relatively long wait for 2022 RAV4, as the 2020 model will not hit the showrooms until November 2019.

Toyota will likely give us a more robust release schedule on the 2022 RAV4 and the RAV4 plug-in Hybrid when it debuted in 2021.

The official price is not available for the 2022 Toyota RAV4 lineup. Still, we expect a small increase in standard and hybrid models, ranging from $26,770 to $36 170 and $28,970 for $36,970 (including destination costs). The plug-in model will likely start higher than the price range-topping hybrid model.

The New RAV4 will compete with Honda CR-V, Ford Escape, and Nissan Rogue.
