Toyota claims that the Trailhunter Concept’s suspension is unique. The Concept appears to be taller than typical tundra vehicles.
The height of its raised mount is thanks to a newly installed lift kit by a factory-backed dealer, which gives the half-ton truck an extra 2.6 inches of ground clearance.

If it’s not high enough to pass all obstacles, the bottom of the Trailhunter Concept is more protected by a skid plate.
The assortment of third-party accessories sets the Trailhunter apart from other Tundra models. Among those adorning the Concept are yellow fog lights, fat front and rear bumpers, low-profile roof racks, and bed-mounted tents.
An ARB refrigerator is also installed in the cargo box, suitable for keeping fresh drinks cool after a day of hunting.
The Trailhunter Concept’s third-party accessories are part of Toyota’s Related Accessory Products.
The newly announced program, which applies to Lexus models as well, is meant to provide customers with more personalization possibilities in a more streamlined manner.
ARB, Yakima, and Rigid Industries are a few of the prominent third-party vendors mentioned.
Toyota introduced a Trailhunter class for its trucks and SUVs with the Tundra Trailhunter Concept.
Trailhunter will be the new flagship model, positioned above TRD Pro and Capstone, and will give a whole Overlanding experience.
For hardware, Trailhunter trucks will get Trailhunter-specific suspension settings, modified bumpers, and skid plates.
It looks like the Trailhunter Tundra uses the new 2.6-inch factory lift kit. There is no mention of increased power.
With the Tundra and Sequoia’s new iForce Max hybrid producing 437 horsepower and 583 lb-ft of torque, this is no longer necessary.
Tundra TrailHunter Engine
The 2024 Toyota Tundra Trailhunter may come with a standard 3.4-liter twin-turbocharged V6 engine that produces 389 hp of power and 479 lb-ft of torque. Choosing this machine can help keep the price down.
However, it could come with an upgraded i-FORCE MAX hybrid powertrain that produces 437 hp and 583 lb-ft of torque. The powertrain gets an EPA estimate of 20 mpg in the city and up to 24 mpg on the highway.
If properly equipped, the Tundra can tow up to 12,000 lbs and carry payloads of up to 1,940 lbs. TrailHunter can have suspension tuning to make it stronger, but we wouldn’t be surprised if the crane is slightly reduced.
2024 Toyota Tundra TrailHunter Release date
Toyota noted there would be trail hunter trucks and SUVs. So we can assume Sequoia will receive a Trailhunter grade.
And the new 4Runner SUV and Tacoma pickup will likely offer it. Toyota said it would provide more information about the Trailhunter next year.
Whether the Trailhunter will be a direct 2023 model year offering or Toyota will wait until 2024.
Although Toyota has not said when the Trailhunter trim will join the Tundra range, we expect it to be offered as part of the 2024 model year, but we will have to wait until the company releases more details next year.
