2024 Toyota 4Runner is Expected To Be a Tough SUV

2024 Toyota 4Runner – The New 4Runner is expected to come as a Tough and stylish SUV with the best performance and quality. Toyota is expected to enhance the exterior and Interior’s visual appeal seriously.

Many automotive lovers expect better upgrades for the 2024 Toyota 4Runner, especially for the exterior and interior cabins. Many think both sectors look old-fashioned, especially compared to new and modern SUVs.

In addition to revamping the exterior and Interior, also with the arrangement of new engines. Considering this is one of the heaviest and strongest midsize SUVs, it would be too embarrassing to let the exterior look affect future buyer valuations.

Hopefully, Toyota can combine rugged offroad capabilities, sturdy body construction, and a stylish look and interior comfort that will boost the reputation of the 4Runner.

2024 Toyota 4Runner Engine

The 2024 Toyota 4Runner will likely use the same 4.0-liter V6 unit juxtaposed with a five-speed auto transmission. It should work well with all four wheels and rear-wheel drive systems.

2024 Toyota 4Runner Exterior

The new 4Runner is expected to have new LED headlights as standard with detailed specifications and features based on trim.

For example, the Trail Edition will come with a black exterior badge and dark gray 17-inch TRD alloy wheels, while the Pro will get a Lunar Rock exterior hue and TRD alloy wheels with tires from the Nitto Terra Grappler.

Expect the new 4Runner to move to the new TNGA platform.

Toyota has moved its vehicles to the Toyota New Global Architecture (TNGA) platform. A new body-on-frame truck version, the TNGA-F, sustains the full-size Land Cruiser and new Tundra.

Smaller versions should be used for the new 4Runner and the new Tacoma. With the same platform, it’s possible Toyota could shift production of the 4Runner—traditionally done in Japan—to America.

Is the Toyota 4Runner a hybrid?

Toyota wants every model to offer a hybrid by 2025, including the 4Runner. The question is how Toyota does it.

Three routes make sense for Toyota to get the 4Runner: adding electric components to complement the basic engine, using some plug-in hybrid like the RAV4 Prime—or an all-out attack on the Bronco and Wrangler, the Tundra’s V6 Hybrid that offers 437 hp and 583 lb-ft.

2024 Toyota 4Runner Interior

The 4Runner should follow Toyota’s new infotainment system that debuted on the Lexus NX with an optional 14-inch touchscreen.

Usually, Toyota does not try to fly buyers with interior material quality. But expect some modest improvements to help fend off rivals.

2024 Toyota 4Runner Price and Release Date

Toyota has not said anything about the release date and price. What we have now is pure speculation and prediction.

It is estimated that costs could be set at around $40,000 for the base trim, while availability could be set by the end of 2023, and you’ll have to wait for an official release from Toyota about the 2024 Toyota 4Runner.

2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Sport

If you want a capable SUV, your next best option may be the Toyota 4Runner. From the basic SR5 model to the complete TRD Pro, the 4Runner can handle all kinds of heavy terrain.

But what if you want a little friendlier on the road? Well, the 4Runner TRD Sport is the right choice for you. The Toyota 4Runner TRD Sport joins the lineup for the 2022 model year.

The model features unique design elements such as color accents on the grille, a new hood with a TRD scent, and 20-inch aluminum-alloy wheels with dark gray accents.

Roof rails now wear a black layer of gloss, and some additional details on the front and rear bumpers make this latest version stand out.

Interestingly, all 2022 Toyota 4Runners get standard LED headlights and fog lights, including the TRD Sport.

Toyota engineers also made changes to the suspension system. The Cross-Linked Relative Absorber System (X-REAS) of the Limited model, which automatically adjusts attenuation when turning, becomes standard on TRD Sport.

Toyota says that the advanced suspension setup makes the 4Runner more suitable for driving on the highway. Even so, the 4Runner is also still capable in off-road terrain.

The TRD Sport comes in two- and four-wheel drive configurations with two-speed transfer cases and a slippage differential limited to 2WD models.

That version also has a 9.0-inch ground clearance, while the 4WD model offers a more powerful 9.6-inch.

SofTex’s faux leather with gray stitching replaces the traditional fabric seats inside and heating functions for passenger comfort.

While TRD shifters and TRD Sport branded floormats complete the sporty look. The same 8.0-inch touchscreen from previous models carries compatibility with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Amazon Alexa.

Toyota 4Runner TRD Sport Engine

The 4.0-liter 4Runner V6 engine produces 270 horsepower (201 kilowatts) and 278 pound-feet (377 newton-meters), paired with a five-speed automatic transmission.

Consumers will also get the Toyota Safety Sense P standard, including a pre-collision system, pedestrian detection, automatic high-beam headlights, and high-speed adaptive cruise control.

2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro

The current 4Runner generation has only minor changes since 2009, and the 1GR-FE 4.0-liter V-6 engine has been around since the early 2000s.

Previous competitors—the Ford Explorer, Mitsubishi Montero, and Nissan Pathfinder—have disappeared entirely or turned into unibody crossovers. This makes the Jeep Wrangler and Ford Bronco Toyota’s most natural rivals.

Given the new framing of the old 4Runner in the context of this 4×4, it makes sense that Toyota played the off-road role of this SUV in recent years.

The TRD Pro trim was introduced in 2015 and has received minor updates to keep this off-road-focused model fresh.

Our test car is hard to miss in its Lime Rush paint, a new color for 2022, and the TRD Pro also comes standard with a front skid plate, 17-inch black alloy wheels, chunky roof racks, and a different grille with retro badass.

The suspension upgrade is also part of the package and includes Fox-branded front and rear dampers and different front springs.

The Nitto Terra Grappler All-Terrain tires look pretty thick, and an upgraded exhaust makes itself sound even when you might not want it—the drone becomes disruptive at highway speeds.

But all the ingredients are here to satisfy off-road lovers, including manual transfer cases, 9.6-inch ground clearance, hill-descent control, and driving modes for different types of terrain.

Safety

All 2022 4Runners are equipped with automatic emergency braking, departure lane warning, automatic high flood headlights, and adaptive cruise control.

Unfortunately, adaptive cruise control doesn’t work below 25 mph, which means it’s useless in stop-and-go traffic.

Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro Interior

The Interior of the TRD Pro is designed for function above all else. They are easy to operate while driving on bumpy roads.

The center console is quite large, as are door pockets, but there isn’t much room to store small items safely.

Behind the second-row seats, you’ll find 47.2 cubic feet of space, increasing to 89.7 cubes when the bench is folded flat.

Most 4Runners have two rows of seats, but you can get a small folding third row in sr5 and limited.

2022 Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro Price

Toyota 4Runner TRD Pro starts at $53,335, including a $1,215 destination fee.
